SAVE THE DATE SEPTEMBER 16 – 18, 2022 FOR THE DUTCH COUSINS GATHERING

I hope this spring finds you well and enjoying all the blessings of the season. Our board and many members have been already at work to plan a great gathering. We hope you will plan to attend and spread the word among family and friends. This is our bi-annual Dutch Cousin’s gathering replacing the one previously scheduled for 2021 and cancelled due to Covid restrictions. The 2022 Dutch Cousins Gathering brochure is available. • Where: Harold Benson Farm at Kentucky State University, Frankfort , KY
• When: Friday, September 16 -18, 2022 with an additional day of research on Monday, September, 19, 2022 at the Harrodsburg Historical Society, HHS, Harrodsburg, KY
• Why: Meet and renew relationships with fellow descendants of the Dutch immigrants to America. Share pride and fun learning more about our family ancestors and heritage. Attend intriguing presentations about gleaning information from family records, frontier life of our ancestors as well as current sustainable food production methods.

Those who might want to begin genealogy research at home before the gathering could seek valuable information from the Harrodsburg Historical Society Research Library. Their online catalog of genealogical and local history materials have been collected by the Society since 1907. Their specialties are the history and families of Mercer County, Kentucky. There is a significant collection of books and genealogical materials on the Dutch Cousins descendants of Dutch immigrants who moved to Kentucky from New England and Pennsylvania and often moved on farther west. The Library holds copies of local newspapers and court records going back to the late 18th century. One can contact them for further information about holdings and for copies or scans of text or images.
