Get ready! The Dutch Cousins are coming to Frankfort!
Hello Cousins!
The time has come for our bi-annual Dutch Cousins Gathering, September 11-14, 2026.
This year we’re gathering again at The Harold R. Benson Research & Demonstration Farm in Frankfort, Ky. We have been here before, and it has everything we need! This is a beautiful 300-acre farm for educational and research programs for The Kentucky State University faculty, staff, and students.
Once again, our meals will be catered by Family Affair Catering, they are the best.
They have catered for our gatherings for many years, and we have always enjoyed them and their “Home-cooked” meals.
Friday & Saturday, September 11th & 12th, are our 2 main days in Frankfort, filled with everything Dutch!
Sunday, September 13th, we will travel to Harrodsburg, KY for our wonderful Sunday morning Worship Service at our Dutch, Old Mud Meeting House. This church was built in the 1800’s and was the first Low Dutch Reformed Church west of the Allegheny Mountains. She has been restored and is beautiful!
On Monday, September 14th, the Harrodsburg Historical Society has once again invited us in for a few hours. They have graciously opened their doors to any of our cousins that want/need to do any research on their Dutch heritage or anything else you would like to discover.
If you can’t make every day, hopefully you can make most days. We will treat you like family…. because you are!! So, let’s get excited and pack our bags for this wonderful and educational Dutch Cousins gathering.
I just get excited to see our family and friends, just to reminisce and get to know our new family & friends and discover more stories.
Don’t be shy… there’s always something to talk about, and everyone has a story!
All you need to do is fill out your DC Registration form, along with your check, and mail it to Brian Schuck in Bowling Green, KY.
We don’t have much time; we need to know as soon as possible how many cousins to prepare for. Since we have just received our registration forms, we need to return them to Brian before the cut-off dates.
Please remember your “Silent Auction” items you would like to donate. This is a great fundraiser for Old Mud.
Also, remember your items for your “Family Heritage” displays. These are great ways to get your conversations going on with your family history. We would love to hear YOUR stories!
Please note the cut-off dates to get the DC discount – the hotels are around July 10th.
The DC gathering cut-off dates for registration forms/checks/t-shirts/totes will be August 15th,2026. You may register after August 15th, but you will not be able to order your T-shirts or totes.
Remember, we need “YOU”, our cousins, to keep our gatherings going strong!
Hope to see you there!!
Blessings to all,
Janice Cozine

One of our favorites – Vince Akers – talks of the value of knowing our heritage though the Dutch Cousins in this 3-minute video:

From: Pam Ellingson, Webmaster
At our 2024 Gathering I made a mental note that I needed to promote the wealth of information that is available on the DutchCousins.org website. The aging brain forgot all about doing this until now.
As we get ready to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, I am thinking about our our Patriot ancestors who fought in the American Revolution. The Veterans page on the website has slideshows from the 2007 & 2009 events honoring some of these veterans. At the top of the page there is a link to download “The Freedom that is our Birthright: Stories of the Low Dutch Veterans Honored by the Dutch Cousins”. This 47 page booklet was compiled by Susan Nease in 2011. It contains historical information, maps, sources and eulogies for 35 Revolutionary War Veterans.
Brian added some music to a slideshow of the 2007 Patriot ceremony. View the 3-minute video from our 2007 visit to the cemetery at the Old Mud Meeting House, honoring our ancestors’ sacrifice for our freedom.
