Why you should come to the Dutch Cousins Gathering

Hello Cousins!
Hope everyone is well and excited about our upcoming Dutch Cousins Gathering.

I want to motivate you to send in your registration forms before our early cut-off date of August 20th. You may still mail in your forms after this date, but you’ll miss out on your  T-shirts and matching tote bags.

Please come join us for fun, fellowship, laughter, history and being with family at our 2022 DC Gathering in beautiful Frankfort, KY.

Your Officers and committee members have planned a fun-filled weekend just for you…..
We have taken you in consideration and have shortened our gathering schedule.
We wanted to do our part helping cut costs and saving time, hoping it will help you in planning your trip to be with us:
*We have removed Thursday from our gathering, which means less travel days, less meals
*There’s no bus trip.
*We will start our Sunday worship service at Old Mud earlier to help with travels to get back home sooner.

We hope you can make the full 2-3 days of our gathering but if not, please come and take part… at any time.
*Starting Friday, we’ll have Russ Gasero speak on, “Something to Chew On: A Story about Archives”.   Humm…Sounds interesting….come and find out!
*We’ll also have a guest speaker from The KY State University – you won’t want to miss.
*Saturday, we’ll have Kevin Hardesty’s portrayal of  Daniel Boone: The First Kentuckian!  Kevin is from The Kentucky Humanities. He will entertain you with the life and times of Daniel Boone.
*After lunch Saturday, we will have Deidre Skaggs, speaking on the different foods and preparations  in “The Historic Kentucky Kitchen”.  Maybe we’ll get some Dutch recipes from her?
*Also Saturday afternoon, we have Andre’ Faul from his family farm, on “Regenerative Agriculture: Sustainable Food Production Systems”.  Growing food for the future, how intriguing!
*Last but certainly not least….after dinner Saturday, we welcome back, Eddie Price. He is also from The Kentucky Humanities. We love Eddie and he always puts on a terrific program for us. This year it will be “Homemaking on the Frontier”.  Eddie will show how our ancestors lived and survived in the early years.

We’ll also have a ‘Silent auction’ set up.  If you would like to donate an item(s) for the auction please be sure to have it there on Friday. These items can be anything – related, or not related, to Dutch. Hopefully there will be something of interest for you to bid on, too?

We’re also having a book display, if you are an author and/or if you would like to set up a “Family History” table of picture, books, letters, etc. to share your family history with us. We would love to hear from you.

If you have any questions or concerns about any part of genealogy, we will have a panel of very knowledgeable cousins that will be happy to help you in any way, on how to proceed with the ins and outs of finding your family history.

We hope you will want to stay for our Worship service on Sunday morning at our beautiful 18th century Dutch Reformed Church, Old Mud Meeting House. You may also want to visit the old school house and Dutch cemetery on the grounds.

With the help of our Dutch Cousins and many many others they have been completely renovated and are simply BEAUTIFUL!  We can worship together in the old-fashion ways of our ancestors.
Having Sunday worship there is amazing and a wonderful experience to end our reunion.

We all know our beloved Carolyn Leonard passed away in May, but we’re happy her husband Jon and daughter Judi will be joining us to carry on her legacy with the Dutch Cousins.

Where else can you pack so much knowledge, fun and excitement in just 2-3 days?
Aren’t you ready for this?
If you have been to our gatherings in the past, you know how much fun we have in teaching and learning about our ancestors and families and how they connect to one another.
If you’ve never been, hold on to your hat and enjoy the ride………

Sending Blessings to all.
