from Jim Cozine of Las Vegas,
Carolyn was mistaken that Cosyn, the wheelwright of New Amsterdam, may have been the son of Gerrit Cosyn Jans Van Oldenbarnevelt of Putten.Everyone I worked with in the Netherlands said it was very unlikely that our ancestors          were from any of the  Noble / Gentry families – Van Oldenbarnvelt, Van der Helle, or Van Rensselaer. The Van OBV family desendents said they saw nohing connecting us to them, while the Vander Helle folks felt our rationale for the association as labor for their ancestors at the estate was very likely. The record in the city hall at Putten just says his father was – Gerrit JansI hope that we can avoid any confusion here – please let all the cousins know – that we make no claims to blood ties to any of these three families…We invite everyone to read the article on Cosyn Gerritsen by Dr. Firth Fabend ( a Cozine desendant ) that was published in the Summer of 2007 De Halve Maen (Half Moon) magazine   starting on pg 23 – COZYN GERRITSEN VAN PUTTEN: NEW AMSTERDAM’S WHEELWRIGHT——————————————————————————————————————————

We sure lost a a real friend of the Dutch Cousins.
Myrgle Huffman from the Harrodsburg Historical Society was always so helpful and kind to us as dad and I researched the low Dutch files.  We shared membership in the HHS also and had the pleasure of being in a mystery dinner that we were characters in!  She was a great actress I say!!!  My dad and I had the opportunity to be a part of a flag retirement at the Old Mud that she had organized too.
She was an active DAR member and I enjoyed many conversations about our Patriot grandparents and families.

In 2009 Randy and Louise Ledger of OKC handled the Registrations and welcoming for the meeting in Harrodsburg Kentucky. Randy was one of the few survivors of the Oklahoma City Murrah Bldg Bombing. He was critically injured and never completely recovered.  Louise was a DUREE descendant along with her sister Carol Heathcoat. Later Carol and her husband Gene of Denton Texas took over duties of hospitality for several years. They were all lovely people, but Randy is the only one still with us.  I just learned that Louise passed last week.Eleanor Louise Ledger was born in Elk City Oklahoma on July 19, 1944. She entered into the eternal presence of Jesus on December 21, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Carol, whom she adored and her infant son Anthony O’Neill Adams. She is survived by her loving husband Randy, of 23 years, her daughter Lisa (Sue)Terry of Lansing, Michigan, daughter Nikkie (John) Hopkins of Yukon, Oklahoma, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Louise graduated from Norman High School in 1962. She spent the better part of the next 30 years raising two young girls and building a career, working in the oil and gas industry, the fitness industry and eventually owning her own business. In 1998 she married the love of her life where she spent the past 23 years building a life she and Randy loved. She retired from the professional workforce in 2007, but never retired from making her house a home. She was an avid antique collector and loved to decorate. Even as Alzheimer’s disease stole her memory and many other abilities, she never lost her interest in decorating and creating a comfortable home for she and her family. Gardening was her favorite hobby and most every day she could be found working happily in her flower beds and tending to her gardens. She was an active member at Metropolitan Bible Church in Oklahoma City, where she and her husband Randy were married and have attended faithfully for many years. Above all else and most importantly, Louise loved the Lord Jesus and walked with him daily as her Lord and Savior.  She was full of contagious joy and kept us smiling! We will miss her so, but we are standing on the promise that she is with the Lord Jesus for eternity and we will see her again!

Dear Cousins,
So many dear cousins and loved friends and family have passed this year. Let us all remember their goodness and efforts in making this a better world.
Let us memorialize them with our love, faith and charity with our fellow people as we grieve their loss.  Keep a song in your heart in realizing what the world needs now.
May we look forward to the next year with optimism and let our faithful  light shine!
Blessings to all,
Mary Jo

These records may provide new insights into the 16 million American men and women who fought during WWII. More than 400,000 Americans died during the war. As a result, many will find ancestors enumerated in the 1940 U.S. Census but no longer living in 1950.

I recently discovered my lineage from the Bantas, through Cornelius and Jannetje Banta.
In searching more about this line, I came upon your site. Although I am not a Kentucky cousin, it appears that I am a Jersey girl cousin!  I would love to get connected and learn more.

My lineage is Banta to Bogert to Lansing to Leming to Briggs – my maiden name.

Hope to hear more from the Dutch Cousins!
